Bay Point Shoreline

I loved the patterns of raggedy old pilings and muddy rivulets that appeared at low tide along this quiet fishing channel in Bay Point, California. The scene changed rapidly as the tide came in -- the ebb and flow of delta life!

Skyward

After weeks of smoky skies it was a joy to see glimmers of blue at last. Painted this at Black Diamond Mines in Northern California on the trail up to historic Rose Hill Cemetery and Mt. Diablo beyond.

Breezy Day, Benicia

These glorious fennel plants sheltered me from the wind and framed my view of the Carquinez Strait as I painted with friends along the Benicia shoreline. The smell was heavenly!

Garden Harmony

On a hot July day, this shady brick patio sheltered by fruit trees, trellises and flowering vines was a welcome oasis. Started in the garden of the historic Fischer-Hanlon House in Benicia, California, finished and harmonized in my imagination.

Martinez Shoreline

You get the big picture when you venture out into Martinez's shoreline park, with panoramic vistas of the Carquinez Strait, hill terrain, shore life and townscape. I loved this view of hills and trains, with echoing train horns lending a peaceful rhythm to the day.

Carquinez Shoreline

It was a joy painting with friends on a sparkling mid-summer day at the Carquinez Strait shoreline, just east of Crockett in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was low tide and I was able to set up my easel on a little fishing beach dotted with old broken bricks, remnants of the brick factory that once thrived here. Nature and history mingle at this beautiful, inspiring location!

Canyon Spirit, Black Diamond

I always love painting in this quiet, peaceful valley at Black Diamond Mines near my home in Northern California. In early summer the hills turn to gold and turquoise shadows glow through the oaks and chaparral.

Stone Ruin, Round Valley

It was so interesting to discover the remains of this old stone cabin along the trail at Round Valley in Northern California. Roof, doors, windows and inhabitants are long gone and a tree is growing up through the floor. Vintage ranch buildings across the creek are still in use.

Figures from Life

I'm thrilled to be painting the figure from life again! Here is Aja de Coudreaux modeling for our group at the Lynn House Gallery in Antioch, California. With plenty of distance and fresh air in the room, Aja graciously removed her mask and allowed us to see her beautiful face. Her stunning headdress and intense gaze added drama to the pose. And here is Irina in a quiet, introspective pose, radiating serenity. "Irina," Acrylic on Panel 16" x 12", © Nancy Roberts, available in my Daily Paintworks Gallery.

Old Corner Store, Alameda

I love the jaunty paint job on this little store at the corner of Pacific and Walnut in Alameda, California. Even though the market is shuttered and re-purposed now, its cheerful facade is still a friendly presence in the neighborhood.
