Day Three: Marsh Creek Orchard

"Marsh Creek Orchard", acrylic on canvas 12" x 16"

I love the orchards in Brentwood and have painted there many times.  Here's a scene that's a composite of several different viewpoints, filtered through my memory and imagination.  This is one of the compositions I designed in my little studies on Day One of the 30 day challenge.

  1. Hi Nancy. Another retired architect here. Your 30 in 30 painting is abstracted yet lifelike. Whenever I try that it looks like a Sci-Fi book cover. Congrats.

    1. Thanks, Laurel! I think lot of my work probably looks like science fiction, but I've decided that's OK. I like to think of it as terra-forming, creating my own world. Cheers!

  2. Hi Nancy! I have been lurking for several years now and am just joining in to say hello. Following along with the challenge and enjoying your posts. I am trying out the challenge also and so will be trying to keep up.

Looking forward to the rest of your postings.
    :)

PS-I am your neighbor to the east I guess; I am an hour outside of Stockton now but used to live in Concord. Benicia, Brentwood, Antioch and the Bay Area in general are very familiar to me:)

    1. Nice to meet you, neighbor! Just checked out your blog -- your work is lovely! And I enjoyed your thoughts about color. My friend Wendy Rogers of Fiddletown (near Jackson) is also doing the 30 day challenge. Do you know her?

    2. I don't! I did a quick search-does she have a site maybe?

Fiddletown is across the Moke. river and to the north/east-it's just beautiful over there with good wine too! Very lucky to live in such a wonderful area:)
