A bright coral King Protea flower was holding court amidst spikes of yellow-green aloe and dusty turquoise agaves on this early summer day at the Ruth Bancroft Garden in Walnut Creek, CA. I knew what my painting's title would be when I heard a happy child shout "Let's play hide and seek!"
